12th Annual Fair Trade Holiday Bazaar

Sunday, November 27
10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

The Social Justice Council is hosting the twelfth annual Fair Trade Holiday Bazaar on Sunday, November 27 (the Sunday after Thanksgiving), with proceeds benefitting The Purpose Driven Purse, a program of Fresh Start Learning, Inc. This program provides purses filled with personal care items and a handwritten note of love and encouragement to women at risk due to trafficking, prostitution, domestic abuse, and homelessness. The program also sponsors a “I Am a Survivor Women’s Group” in partnership with Project RETURN. Nancy Yarbrough, director of Purposes Driven Purse, will be present at the bazaar.

Even in today’s uncertain economic times, there are purchases we need to make. We challenge you to think about the dollars you spend—where do those dollars end up? Rather than boosting the bottom lines of large corporations, the fair trade movement focuses on making sure workers around the world get a reasonable, living wage for their work. Fair Trade for All, a Milwaukee-based fair trade supplier, will again provide beautiful, handmade gift items from around the world.

Invite your friends and family. Volunteers are needed on November 27 to help with setting up, cashiering, and cleaning up after the bazaar. Sign up at the Social Justice Table.
