“Off the Wall” Art Auction Gala

You’re invited to start thinking of the possibilities…….Off YOUR wall. Out of the attic. Into a new collection!

With our first-ever Off the Wall Art Auction Gala approaching in mid-May, all members and friends are invited to contribute to our unique celebration of the arts; a new FUNdraiser to benefit First Church.

Sharon DePue, who conceived the notion of an art-related fund raiser event last year, and heads the creative and enthusiastic Off the Wall Committee as its chair, captures the idea of the afternoon silent auction gala in a nutshell:

“The idea is to provide an opportunity for each of us to refresh the look of our own living spaces and perhaps find a real “bargain,” by letting go of old and familiar pieces, and then acquiring new and fresh….while in the process benefiting First Church.”

And of course, anyone who knows or has worked with Sharon, knows that there will be ample refreshments and fun tossed in as part of the formula.

With our planning effort in full swing, our Off the Wall gala promises to offer art for all budgets and tastes, in a variety of styles and price points. You don’t need to be an artist or an art expert to help us obtain works for our afternoon silent auction event; though we’ll happily accept pieces from the many talented artists and keen-eyed collectors in our church community.

  • You may be downsizing to smaller living quarters and searching for a good home for art you’ve enjoyed and don’t want to store
  • You may want to share with others the joy you’ve found in a special piece
  • You may have inherited art that has been draped with cloth in your attic that could be donated as a memorial.
  • You may know an artist who is looking to winnow-down his/her accumulation of studio inventory

So, take stock. Get your ladder & flashlight out and visit your attic. Spend a few extra minutes in your garage or your storage shed. Rethink whether your long-planned garage sale will be the ideal venue for unloading the crate full of small pieces of framed art you’ve accumulated at festivals over the years.
