First Friday Films: “Made in L.A.”

December 1, 2017 @ 6:45 pm - 9:15 pm

“Made in L.A.”
(70 Minutes.)

Sponsor: Immigration Issues Action Group.
This Emmy-winning documentary takes place in Los Angeles’ garment district and shows how its sweatshops harm the immigrant workforce. Not willing to be exploited, three Latina immigrants spend three years fighting for worker rights and labor protections. Their journey is not easy. This movie is shown mostly through the experiences of these brave women.

Inspiring, and at turns funny and infuriating, Made in L.A. opens our eyes to the world of immigration, bravery and the power of working together for positive change. It is a timely topic for our church, as we have been discussing supporting a “New Sanctuary” movement in Milwaukee.

Doors open at 6:45 p.m. Films begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. Discussion follows, as time allows.
Snacks, tea, coffee and cider will be provided! If you need childcare please contact Jennifer Kaufman.
