“Milwaukee Soldier’s Home: Declining Milwaukee Treasure”
Peter Zanghi, President, Milwaukee Preservation Alliance
The National Trust for Historic Preservation and the Milwaukee Preservation Alliance are raising awareness of the serious structural decline of Milwaukee Soldier’s Home. Founded in 1864, designated a Landmark, placed on the National Park Service “11 Most Endangered” list, in 2012 declared a “National Treasure,” the Soldiers Home originated with women raising funds to assist returning Civil War soldiers. With this long history of commitment to serving veterans, will our generation be able to save it? Host: Juliet Hills
