Sunday Forum: “The Iditarod – Alaska’s Famous Dog Sled Race”

Presenter: Mary Beth Peterson, World Traveler, Public Speaker.

Everyone has heard of the Iditarod, but few are aware of the logistics for this thousand-mile annual event known as “The Last Great Race On Earth.”

World traveler Mary Beth Petersen’s slide program documents every aspect of this great wilderness race, typically run in minus 20–40 degree Fahrenheit weather. Dog lovers and endurance sport enthusiasts will especially enjoy this program.

Sunday Forum is a Sunday morning lecture series at First Unitarian Society of Milwaukee that showcases provocative, sometimes controversial, speakers discussing topical issues of the day: politics, the environment, health issues, the arts, education and more. Speakers give a 30-minute presentation, followed by questions and brief comments from the audience. Coffee is served. Childcare is available.
