Join us for United Nations Sunday, with worship services and forum led by the Director of the Unitarian Universalist Association’s United Nations Office, as we affirm the connections between UU principles and the vital issues dealt with at the UN.
Bruce says this about his sermon: “American history shows that the United States was founded on devotion to Liberty, with only slight attention to Equality and Fraternity (or Community). What do we need to do to get these three elements into balance, where people have the liberty they need to thrive, the equality they need to succeed, and the community they need to take care of each other?”
Bruce Knotts earned his Master’s Degree in International Education from the Monterey Institute of International Studies and served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ethiopia. He worked for Raytheon in Saudi Arabia and on a World Bank contract in Somalia, before he joined the Department of State as a U.S. diplomat in 1984. Bruce retired from the Foreign Service in 2007 and joined the Unitarian Universalist United Nations Office as its Executive Director in 2008.
