When I was studying at seminary and having knee-jerk reactions to Christian language and symbols, a friend called me a “cross-cringian,” meaning that I cringed at theological language and symbols that did not resonate with me. Thankfully, I got over that and learned to claim words that work for me and my spirituality. Have you? Let’s explore the power of words and perhaps reclaim a few. This will follow well upon Rollie’s topic the previous week, because words used in the public square to name injustices are quite telling.
