Sunday Service: “Civility and Democracy”

July 3, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

ONE SERVICE AND RELIGIOUS EDUCATION 10:00 a.m.
“Civility and Democracy”
Speaker: Rev. Sarah Oelberg, Pulpit Guest
Music: Jack Forbes Wilson, Resident Artist

Let’s look at how civility and democracy are related and what the current status of each is in the present political climate. Both are foundational to our country, but do they still exist?

Sarah is a retired UU minister, having served churches in Nebraska and Minnesota. Before that, she was a professor of special education and psychology at Yeshiva University, NYU, and Buena Vista College in Iowa. Rev. Oelberg received her D. Min. from Meadville Lombard. She has been married to her husband Jerry for 56 years. They have four children, 6 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Sarah is a sixth generation Unitarian, and a lifelong Humanist.
