GET OUTDOORS! On Saturday mornings in May, from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., come to the Cudahy Nature Preserve (near the airport) where Ken Solis will lead us in pulling out the invasive garlic mustard from the area. If you sign-up at the Social Justice Table in the Common Room, you will receive helpful information, e.g. directions, what to bring, etc., by email.  Seize the invasive and seize the day! For more information contact Terry Wiggins.

SANCTUARY SUNDAY IS TODAY AFTER SERVICE! Join us from 11:15 a.m.-1:00 p.m. as Bruce Wiggins will present a slide show from the 2017 April Regional Assembly workshop which reviews the process employed by two Chicago UU congregations in making their commitment to help resettle refugee families. Sanctuary Sunday programs are held monthly and are offered to enhance our understanding of the various outcomes.

BLACK LIVES MATTER COLLABORATIVE, which includes First Church, recently, joined the Close the MSDF Coalition. The Coalition will be picketing regularly on the 23rd of the month beginning Sunday, July 23, from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the prison located at 1015 N. 10th St. We need to reinvest the excessive corrections spending to help make the formerly incarcerated more employable, to focus on keeping communities together, to find alternatives to locking people up for months at a time due to minor rule…
