You Are Welcome Here
You are warmly invited to get to know us. Knowing that some people prefer a quiet “checking-us-out” method while others want to “jump right in” and test the waters, there are many ways you can find out more about this faith community.
Our Sunday services are a great way to experience our community. During the summer months we have one service at 10:00 a.m. each Sunday. During the church year (September through May,) we offer two services each Sunday, at 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. We have a nursery staffed by trained providers, and we have cozy area in our Parlor that allows kiddos to play and wiggle while the grown-ups listen to the service via audio speakers, as an alternative to sitting in the Sanctuary. Children are invited to enjoy the beginning of each Worship Service, every Sunday but the first of the month (when they take part in their own special activities!) with the entire congregation and are then invited to join with the appropriate age group for Religious Education classes.
Stay for coffee hour
After each worship service, volunteers work hard to provide a fabulous offering of Collectivo coffee, tea and refreshments. Join us as we visit, meet new and old friends, renew and socialize in the Leenhouts Common Room and Courtyard with our five-star social hour.
Get acquainted/Take a tour: First Sunday of the Month
On the first Sunday of each month, join our Membership Development Coordinator Cheri Taylor at the Members Services Table during Coffee Hour, as she meets with visitors and new members in an informal “Get Acquainted Q&A Gathering” immediately following both services. You can find out more about our church history and beliefs, Unitarian Universalism in general and opportunities for getting involved in the many special groups here. You’ll also have a chance to see our Religious Education rooms, the lovely Max Otto Hall upstairs and our beautiful courtyard (weather permitting).
Join us for our Inquirer’s Series
This is a program designed for friends and visitors of our beloved community to learn about our community. Each week, we uncover a different topic . This will be your moment to gather with others to share, learn, and discover our values and culture! Click here for more information.
Take a class
The Adult Religious Education program at First Church offers classes of interest year-round. From yoga to guest speakers, there’s always plenty to choose from!
After either worship service, join our Membership Development Coordinator Cheri Taylor to receive a Welcome Packet and discuss upcoming Journey to Membership classes. During our Journey to Membership series, you will get the chance to meet others who are on a similar “journey” in UUism, discuss areas of church life you want to explore, find out what a church pledge is and learn about the benefits and responsibilities of membership. You will also be treated to a “behind-the-scenes” tour of the campus.
