Board of Trustees Charge to the Interim Transition Team:

Under the authority of the First Unitarian Society of Milwaukee Board of Trustees, the Interim Transition Team (ITT) is charged with the responsibility of working with the Interim Senior Minster and staff to complete the following five interim developmental tasks:

Coming to terms with history

Discovering a new identity

Allowing needed leadership to emerge

Renewing Denominational Linkages

Committing to New Directions in Ministry

Reporting of the ITT’s progress and activities will be included in the Interim Senior Minister’s monthly reports to the Board of Trustees unless otherwise requested.
The Five Interim Tasks:

Coming to terms with history

Claiming and honoring the past, healing its griefs and conflicts and celebrating milestones and accomplishments. With a clear understanding of where we have been we are prepared to continue the relevance of the past as we plan a future.

Discovering a new identity

As the congregation integrates its history with its hopes for the future, its unique identity, strengths, needs, and challenges will be clear. When that identity has been clarified and embraced the Ministerial Search Committee will know exactly what kind of minister will be able to lead the congregation into its preferred future.

Allowing needed leadership to emerge

…by clarifying the multiple dimensions of leadership, both ordained and lay, paid and unpaid. The congregation reviews its governance, decision-making and its strategy for ongoing development of leadership. Developing leaders of the congregation who are capable and informed is an important task of our interim process.

Renewing denominational linkages

RENEWING DENOMINATIONAL LINKAGES: Congregations renew connections to the UUA during interim periods, utilizing available resources within and beyond the UUA. Strengthening ties with other congregations, your regions, and the national movement are important goals of the interim process.
COMMITTING TO NEW DIRECTIONS IN MINISTRY: This is the culminating awareness and possibility that comes from working through the other interim tasks. This is the bright and shining star to navigate by this coming year. It will lift your hearts and minds to appreciate that the reason for all our work is to recognize and attract a new senior minister to lead you towards the fulfillment of your dreams and vision.
