WomanSpirit creates programs to empower women to work together, to work for equality in society, and to grow in friendship and understanding of Unitarian Universalism.
WomanSpirit at the First Unitarian Society of Milwaukee is one of our connections to the National Unitarian Universalist Woman’s Federation. We pay an annual membership fee that alerts us also to our Central Midwest District Women’s Connection, which sponsors UU women’s retreats in June and August, and the Mid American Women and Religion gathering, which holds their retreats in February.
We reach out and welcome all women, practicing mutual support, personal growth, and spiritual enrichment. We give financial help when needed. We provide service hospitality on different levels, giving household gifts and school supplies to women in need at Sojourner Truth House and St. Benedict’s ministry.
We continue to collaborate with many women’s groups, working on voting registration with the League of Women Voters, on immigration, on Black Lives Matter, and on issues that intersect with our other First Church groups.
