“The Making of a Therapy Dog”

Presenter: Kathleen Dunn, Therapy Dog Trainer.

Long-time radio and television personality Kathleen Dunn retired from public radio in August 2017.  Shortly after retiring, she acquired a Portuguese Water Dog named Finn.  With the assistance of a local Milwaukee organization called Pets Helping People (PHP), Kathleen spent many months training herself and Finn to become qualified therapy visitors.

Kathleen will tell her story of why it was so important for her to do this work.  Could your dog be a therapy dog? Joining Kathleen for the presentation will be Finn, along with his trainer, Amy Dodge, Executive Director of PHP.

Sunday Forum is a Sunday morning lecture series at First Unitarian Society of Milwaukee that showcases provocative, sometimes controversial, speakers discussing topical issues of the day: politics, the environment, health issues, the arts, education and more. The Forum — in Max Otto Hall on our second floor — begins at 10:10 a.m. and lasts about 45 minutes. Speakers give a 30-minute presentation, followed by questions and brief comments from the audience. Coffee is served. Childcare is available.
