“Militarism and Climate Change“

January 3, 2021 | 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Categories:

Julie Byrnes Enslow, Peace Action Wisconsin Founder & 350.org Milwaukee Facilitator.

We live in perhaps the most challenging time in human history. We face existential threats to our future life on this planet: nuclear war and climate change. The links between militarism and global warming with the resulting climate change are clear. The US military is the greatest contributor of greenhouse gas of any single entity. Wars are fought for control of oil and oil is needed to fight those wars. The social upheavals caused by droughts, floods, hurricanes, rising oceans, heat waves, etc. often result in a military response.

How do we live lives of joy and hope in these times?  How do we address these critical issues and keep our balance, our sense of oneness with all things?
