Police accountability was brought to the forefront globally with the arrest/death of George Floyd on May 25th last year. Since then, well over 115 Black people have been killed by police in the US. Over two decades ago, the FBI stated that the rate of Black murders has not changed since the end of the Civil War when the roots of policing began. We’ll talk about issues such as “the bad apple in the barrel,” Black Lives Matter, and current initiatives such as defunding policing policies and practices as we move toward national transformative change.

Speakers give a 30-minute presentation, followed by questions and brief comments from the audience.
