“Our Trans Family”

Today’s Topic:

Jeff Pearcy and Meredith Watts will present a selection of their work and speak about their understanding of transgender people who have been marginalized by society. All these families have navigated a complicated personal and social path to express the gender identity that is within them. The world around them, and sometimes people close to them, often attempt to impose an external definition based on preconceptions and stereotypes.

Jeff and Meredith will be joined by First Church members Loree Cook-Daniels and Michael Munson. Michael is Executive Director and Loree is Program and Policy Director of FORGE, a national anti-violence organization for the transgender community.

Host: Lorraine Jacobs

Sunday Forum is a Sunday morning lecture series at First Unitarian Society of Milwaukee that showcases provocative, sometimes controversial, speakers discussing topical issues of the day: politics, the environment, health issues, the arts, education and more. The Forum — in Max Otto Hall on our second floor — begins at 10:10 a.m. and lasts about 45 minutes. Speakers give a 30-minute presentation, followed by questions and brief comments from the audience. Coffee is served. Childcare is available.
