“Sojourner Family Peace Center”

March 7, 2021 | 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Liz Marquardt: Senior Director of Data Analytics, Grants, and Compliance.

Our community is hurting. At the end of 2019 and throughout 2020 there was a dramatic increase in domestic violence homicides and calls to the police for abuse related crimes. Liz Marquardt will discuss how to recognize domestic abuse and what you can do to respond. The conversation will include information about the dynamics of abuse, the impact on families, and risk factors for homicide. We will review Sojourner’s new “Know Your Risk” outreach message and discuss how you can uplift the message, support survivors, and make our community safer. She has been speaking to audiences about recognizing, and responding to, domestic violence throughout her 33 years at the agency.

Forum Host:  Jo Ann Bachar

First Unitarian Society of Milwaukee

For over 50 years, the Sunday Forum lecture series has showcased provocative, sometimes controversial, speakers discussing topical issues of the day: politics, the environment, health issues, the arts, education, and more. The Sunday Forum is held online via Zoom and YouTube Live at 11:00 a.m. during the regular church year. Speakers give a 45-minute presentation, followed by questions and brief comments from the audience. The content of Forum lectures does not necessarily express the viewpoint of First Unitarian Society of Milwaukee, but are meant to offer thoughtful topics which our members often pursue further on their own.
