Connecting Across Difference: Beloved Conversations in 2020

Rev. Jennifer Nordstrom, First Unitarian Society of Milwaukee

In the winter and spring of 2020, you have an opportunity to learn to connect more authentically across difference. The Anti-Racism team is bringing Meadville Lombard’s Beloved Conversations curriculum to First Church to help you reflect on how the difference of race shows up in your own life, in church, and in the world. The curriculum uses story-telling and relationships to help us learn. It invites participants to reflect on their own lives, and listen deeply to the stories of other people’s lives. By sharing stories, participants will reflect on how race has shaped their own lives and the lives of the people around them.

First Church participants will be joined by members of UU Church West (Brookfield) and United UU Church (Waukesha) for an opening Beloved Conversations weekend retreat in January. Then we will meet in First Church small groups for another eight sessions of reflection and story-telling over the course of the winter and spring of 2020. Registration for Beloved Conversations will begin in October. Please consider joining us for this important journey towards anti-racism and connecting across difference!
