Democracy and the Wis Supreme Court

February 26, 2023 | 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Categories:

Elizabeth Pierson, Attorney with Law Forward.

In recent years, the Wisconsin Supreme Court has decided a series of cases with dramatic implications for how we vote and how our government works, often to the detriment of democracy in Wisconsin. Law Forward, a nonpartisan, pro-democracy nonprofit law firm, has participated in many of these cases and closely monitors the Court’s docket. This talk will describe and explain recent trends at the Court, discuss the importance of the upcoming election for a seat on the Court, and preview some democracy issues we expect to see before the Court soon.  www.lawforward.org   Host:  Jerry Fredrickson

First Unitarian Society of Milwaukee

For over 50 years, the Sunday Forum lecture series has showcased provocative, sometimes controversial, speakers discussing topical issues of the day: politics, the environment, health issues, the arts, education, and more. The Sunday Forum is held at 10:00 a.m. September through May. Speakers give a 45-minute presentation, followed by questions and brief comments from the audience. The content of Forum lectures does not necessarily express the viewpoint of First Unitarian Society of Milwaukee, but are meant to offer thoughtful topics which our members often pursue further on their own.
