April 6, 2025 | 12:15 pm - 1:00 pm

Need more laughter in your life? Join member Andrew Whitver for a laughter yoga class on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at 12:15 – 1:00 p.m. upstairs in Max Otto Hall.

Laughter yoga is an intentional exercise involving movement and yogic breathing exercises to promote voluntary laughter over a prolonged period of time. It’s an easy way to have fun and relieve stress. It’s been proven that laughter improves mood, decreases stress and relieves pain. It’s good for cardiovascular and respiratory systems. No jokes are necessary here. Laughter can be faked, and the human body and mind do not know it is simulated. Laughter yoga is based on the premise that laughing intentionally provides the same physiological and psychological benefits as spontaneous laughter.

Laughter yoga involves gentle stretching, eye contact, and body movements.

Breathing exercises prepare the lungs for a good bout of laughter. Laughter exercises intersect with breathing exercises and are finished with a laughter meditation and a guided relaxation exercise. Laughter yoga can be an excellent way to keep fit and healthy. When it is practiced in groups, the contagious element of laughter means it quickly spreads to other people nearby.

Andrew Whitver is a certified laughter yoga instructor and has 10 years of experience teaching laughter yoga to groups ranging from 2 to 600 people.

No yoga mat required, no poses, no judgment. A fun time to share the joy of laughing with others. No need to register, just show up!
