Samhain (Pagan Halloween and New Year)

Everyone is invited to join the UU Pagan group for a celebration of Samhain (Pagan Halloween and New Year) on November 1. We will meet at 12:30 p.m. in Max Otto Hall. At this time, the veil between the worlds of the living and the dead are at their thinnest. It is a time to think about our own mortality, those who have gone before us, and how the end of life comes for all things .You are invited to bring a photo or remembrance of your beloved departed one to place upon the altar. Bring an instrument if you have one. At the end of the gathering we will have a potluck. You’re encouraged to bring food items that remind you of your departed loved ones.
Our Pagan group meets to celebrate the eight Earth holidays – the four Solstices and Equinoxes, and the Cross-Quarter days in between (Samhain, Imbolc, Beltane and Lammas). We come from a variety of traditions to celebrate the ancient traditions of many cultures. These earth-centered traditions call us to honor the interdependent web of existence, celebrate the sacredness of nature, and deepen our relationship with the living world.
