Anita Johnson, Voting Education Specialist & Community Outreach Manager.

Johnson will discuss the mission and activities through which Souls to the Polls impowers voting. They believe that voting is a tool to build stronger, safer, and more supportive communities. Founded in 2013, Milwaukee faith leaders and their congregations have strengthened the voting power of the Black community. Currently expanding relationships, their influence with state and local leaders has grown, focusing on issues such as affordable housing, gun violence, economic development and government transparency. They work to bring thousands of “Souls to the Polls”! Learn ways you can support their mission.

First Unitarian Society of Milwaukee

For over 50 years, the Sunday Forum lecture series has showcased provocative, sometimes controversial, speakers discussing topical issues of the day: politics, the environment, health issues, the arts, education, and more. The Sunday Forum is held at 10:00 a.m. September through May. Speakers give a 45-minute presentation, followed by questions and brief comments from the audience. The content of Forum lectures does not necessarily express the viewpoint of First Unitarian Society of Milwaukee, but are meant to offer thoughtful topics which our members often pursue further on their own.
