United Nations Association:
March 9, 2025 | 10:00 am - 11:00 am

The most active local world affairs group you’ve never heard of.
Steve Watrous, President, UNA-Greater Milwaukee chapter.
The UNA has the best continuing monthly forum series in town about global issues, with speakers including John Nichols, Candice Owley, Sheldon Lubar and Reggie Jackson.
Members work on peace, women’s rights, and the environment. Their project with MPS to educate about the UN results in yearly “World Fairs” with over a thousand elementary students. Frank Zeidler and friends formed what became the UNA-GM chapter to organize at the grass roots and persuade elected officials about the UN and its goals.
Watrous has represented the Milwaukee chapter at national and international UNA conferences, and at COP27 in Egypt.

For over 50 years, the Sunday Forum lecture series has showcased provocative, sometimes controversial, speakers discussing topical issues of the day: politics, the environment, health issues, the arts, education, and more. The Sunday Forum is held at 10:00 a.m. September through May. Speakers give a 45-minute presentation, followed by questions and brief comments from the audience. The content of Forum lectures does not necessarily express the viewpoint of First Unitarian Society of Milwaukee, but are meant to offer thoughtful topics which our members often pursue further on their own.
