Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) FAST Fund is our September Share the Plate recipient. FAST Fund provides quick financial assistance to MATC students experiencing economic emergencies, so they stay enrolled, graduate, and can achieve long-term success.
FAST Fund overwhelmingly assists first generation college students, many of whom are women and people of color. These students often lack the support network needed to meet the financial obligations of being a college student.
In the 2022-23 school year nearly $427,000 in small judgement-free grants helped 1688 students cover basic needs such as rent, food, and energy bills. That was more than double the number of students experiencing financial crisis in the previous year. The need is great and continues to grow as we start the new school year.
