First Church Seeks Acting Assistant Minister, 2025-2028

First Unitarian Society of Milwaukee (FUSM) is a large, vibrant, intellectual, urban and progressive Unitarian Universalist congregation of people whose strongest beliefs are in each other and in Love. Loving-kindness is at the heart of our congregation, and we offer and encourage a variety of spiritual growth experiences.

The culture at FUSM is a rich swirl of spiritual diversity, humanist egalitarianism, and social and political activism, bolstered by a search for meaning through both spiritual and intellectual exploration. Our culture invites and expects a dedication to “shared ministry” where lay leaders serve in all areas of congregational life, religious education, pastoral care, financial stewardship, membership development, and worship services.

Additionally, we are a congregation that builds strong relationships both inside the church community and in the local. We are recognized as social justice leaders in the city, and we show up to events, meetings, protests, and for the regular work of organizing.

We are seeking an Acting Assistant Minister who wants to partner with our community to nurture our peoples’ spirits and create a sense of welcome and belonging for those who find a spiritual home here. This is a congregational life portfolio with primary emphasis on pastoral care, welcome and belonging, small groups, and summer services. The position is Acting, which means the initial hire is for the defined period of three years, with the possibility of a long-term hire. Please find the full job description here: LINK

To apply, please contact Senior Minister, Rev. Jennifer Nordstrom, and see the information in our Congregational Record on the UUA.org website.
