Our First Church Book Discussion Group is one of the longest-running, continuous activities at First Church and it has changed since COVID. We meet on the second Sunday of each month at 1:00 p.m. Central Time.
What you may not know:
1) It’s a zero commitment activity. Sign up and we’ll send you the reading list for the church year, and monthly background information like links to author interviews or thought questions about each book as well as an invitation to join the discussion. There is no expectation that you will do anything with the information unless you choose to.
2) It’s Zoom only because we have members who live out of town and members who can’t make it to an in-person meeting.
3) Of our current 53 members, typically 8 to 12, not always the same people, participate in the lively discussions on the second Sunday of each month at 1:00 p.m. Central Time.
4) You do not have to have read the book to join in the discussion.
5) Many of our members enjoy having the member-selected book list and never participate in a discussion.
6) Each spring each member is encouraged to recommend up to 3 books they have personally read and then to vote on the list for the coming 12 months. We read and discuss all year long.
7) Each month in the Chanticleer, there is a Book Discussion Group notice with a link to sign up [insert link again], so please join us anytime!
Here’s a link to a list of the books we’ve selected for 2025-26.
