Beauty that Insists on Flourishing

Dear Beloveds,

Spring blossoms are beginning to unfold their beauty around us, oblivious to the worries of our human hearts. The yellow crocus pushes forth, the tulips insist on new life, and the branches of the trees bud despite anything happening in Washington or the deep hollows of our hearts.

Sometimes it feels clueless, others like a balm in Gilead, this beauty that insists on flourishing whenever it wants. And in our human vicissitudes, we can learn from the steady return of the flowers in their season.

This month, may we celebrate the joy of our new Acting Assistant Minister, even as we continue to grieve our final months with our beloved Rev. Dena before she retires in June. May we continue to pursue the joy of building communities of resistance together even as we grieve the harms of fascism.

This world is woven in opposites and multiplicities, as it always has been. Allow yourself the breath and space to appreciate the joy alongside all the struggle and grief. It is both the reason for, and the fuel of, resistance.

Love,
Rev. Jennifer
Rev. Jennifer Nordstrom, Senior Minister
