How Can We Stop Gun Violence?

April 17, 2022 | 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Categories:

Deja Garner, Director of Equity & Outreach, WAVE (Wisconsin Anti-Violence Effort).

Deja will share her insights into anti-violence work. In her experience with grassroots gun violence protection organizations, she has found that this work is multi-faceted and includes the evaluation, and completion of evidence-based solutions applied to impacted communities. These solutions emphasize community participation with youth involvement, harm and violence reduction, criminal justice reform, and equity issues. Deja also specializes in equitable gun legislation and the racial implications of federal, state and local gun policies. She will also share her perspective on police violence and police reform.    waveedfund.org                   Host: Dan O’Keefe

First Unitarian Society of Milwaukee

For over 50 years, the Sunday Forum lecture series has showcased provocative, sometimes controversial, speakers discussing topical issues of the day: politics, the environment, health issues, the arts, education, and more. The Sunday Forum is held at 10:00 a.m. September through May. Speakers give a 45-minute presentation, followed by questions and brief comments from the audience. The content of Forum lectures does not necessarily express the viewpoint of First Unitarian Society of Milwaukee, but are meant to offer thoughtful topics which our members often pursue further on their own.
