Sorting Clothes for Afghan Guests

March 6, 2022 | 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Categories:

Sandra Weigand, Volunteer.

Sandra Weigand joined Team Rubicon in September 2021 to go to Fort McCoy and spent 20 days sorting clothing donated for Afghan evacuees. Now that work is done but she hopes to find other ways to be of help to the evacuees in the future. Growing up in Appleton, Weigand received an American Field Service scholarship to go to Switzerland for a year.  She then attended the UWM School of Architecture and worked producing construction documents for big building projects. After retiring in 2010, she volunteered work for a church and Lake Park Friends and traveled throughout Europe.  Host: Thallis Hoyt Drake

First Unitarian Society of Milwaukee

For over 50 years, the Sunday Forum lecture series has showcased provocative, sometimes controversial, speakers discussing topical issues of the day: politics, the environment, health issues, the arts, education, and more. The Sunday Forum is held at 10:00 a.m. September through May. Speakers give a 45-minute presentation, followed by questions and brief comments from the audience. The content of Forum lectures does not necessarily express the viewpoint of First Unitarian Society of Milwaukee, but are meant to offer thoughtful topics which our members often pursue further on their own.
