Dear First Church,
We want to build belonging at First Church this year: for you, for all our members and friends, and for new people arriving to join our community—including Rev. Chris Long, our new Acting Assistant Minister! Come meet Rev. Chris at church on Sundays and read his introductory Chanticleer column here (link).
We are also saying goodbye to another pillar of First Church: our beloved Director of Administration Jean Johnson, who plans to retire in January of 2026. See more about that here: (link).
Church is a counter-cultural place, where we value human life, empathy, and practice caring for one another. Building belonging in human community is a key part of building resistance and resilience in the face of fascism, which aims to separate us and commodify our relationships. At church we weave our lives together instead, building strength and honoring the inherent value of life.
Come practice being human and living your values this year at church and be part of the ecosystem of resistance to fascist dehumanization. We’ll see you soon.
Love,
Rev. Jennifer
