Meaning Making: Overcoming Shame Together
Today’s Topic:
As we continue to explore our Soul Matters theme for the month of October, Courage, how might we as a spiritual, religious community, face and make meaning of the subject of shame as it has shown up in our lives and living? A few questions to examine adapted from Soul Matters small group packet for the month. How has or does shame show up in your life if at all? Have you ever taken a “leap of faith” into and through experiences that tap into this shame? Let’s think individually, and collectively as a faith community, how First Church has, or might help us all transform shame into courage and ultimately into the unwavering power of more self-love.

Parking: Our church has no parking lot. Lincoln School for the Arts lot: The entrance is located 1 short block west of First Church, on Marshall, just south of Ogden. Jewish Family Services lot: JFS welcomes us to use their parking lot on Sundays. It is located 3 blocks west of the church, on Van Buren near Knapp St. We also rely on street parking in our neighborhood. Here is a map with details.
