Unfortunately, due to a recent COVID exposure, Rev. Dr. Sofia Betancourt will not be able to visit us in Milwaukee April 2. Sofia sends her regrets – she was so looking forward to being with us this weekend! Rev. Dena will be preaching Sunday, April 2. We hope to reschedule Rev. Betancourt’s visit to First Church and will let everyone know as soon as we do!
Rev. Dr. Sofia Betancourt is the current candidate for president of the Unitarian Universalist Association. She is a minister, educator, scholar, vocalist, poet, fiber artist, and change-maker. She has served as a religious educator, a parish minister, a seminary professor, and interim co-president of the UUA, and in countless volunteer roles within the Association. As the child of immigrants from Panamá and Chile, and grandchild of a seventh-generation Unitarian, she knows the strength that comes from building lasting community at the meeting point of difference. Her work in the world and her practice of Unitarian Universalism are informed by the belief that creating mutual, accountable relationships allows us to live our values more fully every day. She currently lives in the Washington, D.C., area.
