The Good, the Bad, the Ugly of UN’s Climate Change Conference

February 19, 2023 | 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Categories:

Steve Watrous, President United Nations Association-Greater Milwaukee chapter.

Watrous participated at COP27 in Egypt in November as a representative of the national UNA-USA. The UN’s annual climate change Conference of the Parties was a great opportunity to see what governments, businesses and NGOs are thinking and doing about this existential threat. Com hear about the U.S. official delegation, the final declaration, activist caucuses, demands of indigenous peoples, some brilliant ideas and a few scary predictions. See what it was like to be there: the pavilions, the art, the people in native dress from their countries, and the limited demonstrations demanding better action.    United Nations Association of Greater Milwaukee (UNA-GM)      Host: Dan O’Keefe

In-Person or Online at 10:00!

In-Person: In Max Otto Hall.

Online: Watch the livestream at 10:00 or a later time at our YouTube channel  You will not be able to ask questions.

First Unitarian Society of Milwaukee

For over 50 years, the Sunday Forum lecture series has showcased provocative, sometimes controversial, speakers discussing topical issues of the day: politics, the environment, health issues, the arts, education, and more. The Sunday Forum is held at 10:00 a.m. September through May. Speakers give a 45-minute presentation, followed by questions and brief comments from the audience. The content of Forum lectures does not necessarily express the viewpoint of First Unitarian Society of Milwaukee, but are meant to offer thoughtful topics which our members often pursue further on their own.
