Facilities Maintenance Technician Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION — FACILITIES MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

REPORTS TO:  Facilities Manager
STATUS:           17 hours per week, $19 per hour
FSLA:               Non-exempt (hourly)
EFFECTIVE:     10-07-24

SCOPE OF THE JOB:  Under direction of the Facilities Manager, provide maintenance and project services as needed for the upkeep of the church facilities.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in maintenance, construction and remodeling projects in all areas of facilities.
  • Periodically confer with the Facilities Manager as to the priority level of projects.
  • Order parts, equipment, supplies, materials for tasks and document those expenses.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in all facilities.
  • Occasionally fill in for Facilities Assistant.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Technical expertise, minimum 5 years of experience in HVAC repairs, painting, carpentry, minor plumbing and minor electrical.
  • Excellent and creative problem solving skills including research online, knowledge of appropriate tools and materials, and gathering information with end users.
  • Valid Wisconsin driver’s license.
  • Good time management skills. Completes all assigned work in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work independently and use good judgment as to when to check with Facilities Manager before proceeding.
  • Good communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical breakdowns.

Physical requirements

  • Must be able to write and understand English.
  • Must be able to lift and maneuver 80 lb. banquet tables.
  • Must be able to see literature for printing and folding.
  • Must be able to go up a 10 ft. step ladder and perform work.
  • Must be able to work in temperature of -20 degrees through 100 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Must be able to work wearing rubber and cloth gloves.
  • Must be able to distinguish colors.
