Testimonal – Gordon Mueller

Through my readings, I have learned that spiritual growth comes from distrusting what we already believe and by deliberately challenging the validity of what we have previously been taught and hold dear.  I am attracted to and cherish First Church because questions and doubts are not only tolerated and accepted, but they are also encouraged and cherished.   

From my first visit to First Church, I sensed that I had found my spiritual home.  Each time I return, each time I get to know one more of the members of this church more intimately, each time I listen to the wonderfully, enlightening sermons, I become more certain in that sentiment. 

This is by far the largest pledge that I have ever given.  I did so because First Church has clearly demonstrated the values, integrity, and the compassion for all living beings, human, animal, plant that I hold dear to my heart.  I ardently believe it is imperative to support and promote those values, integrity, and compassion.    

I have supported this church by being a member of a wide variety of committees and task forces.  Currently I am a member of the Forging Our Future steering committee.  Of all of the various and essential activities that I have been involved in with First Church, I view this as one of the most important.  My pledge for the Forging Our Future campaign is just one way I can provide a hopefully meaningful measure of that support.
