Description

The Pulpit Guest Team arranges for pulpit guests in the absence of the ministers.

The Pulpit Guest Team will accept proposals from church members who can lead our summer services. To apply, fill out the form below. Carefully create your topic, and describe how it relates to Unitarian Universalist values and First Church’s mission. Proposals are due by April 15, 2024 and we will notify you by early May if your proposal has been selected.

 

2024 Summer Service Member-Led Pulpit Guest Proposal

• Summarize the topic or content of your proposed sermon in 2-3 sentences (similar to the way sermon topics are described in The Chanticleer).*
• Are there particular books, events, writers or ideas that inspire your ideas? Are there specific texts that would be appropriate as readings for the service?*
• Describe any experience you have in public speaking or talking before an audience.*
• What personal or professional interests or experiences give you particular insight and knowledge about the topic you are proposing?*
• Building on the brief description of your proposed sermon, describe what you would like the congregation to experience, understand, or “take away” from your service.*
• Is there anything else you’d like to add to help the committee understand your plans?
• Are there any Sundays during July/August or Sept. 1 you will NOT be available?
