We have a new Religious Education Coordinator: Cami Thomas!
We are thrilled to welcome Cami to our team. Cami will be running our Religious Education program this year as our community discerns the future direction of religious education at First Church.
Cami has already joined the RE Team for their annual retreat and had her first day in the office. She will be with us on Sundays starting this Sunday, August 12. We hope you will take a moment to say hello and welcome her to First Church! Cami’s note to you is below.
With joy,
Rev. Jennifer Nordstrom
[Note from Cami Thomas:]
Hello everyone,
My name is Cami Thomas, and I am humbled to join the staff here at First Church as the Religious Education Coordinator. I recently finished my M.A. in African and African Diaspora Studies at UW-Milwaukee.
I have served as an educator in both youth and adult education inside and outside of the classroom.
I am an educator first but also a researcher and evaluator as well as a social justice advocate. I am dedicated to equity and social justice through education, community service, and impacting policy.
Originally from Gary, Indiana, I have lived in Milwaukee for 14 years. I love this city and all the history and culture it has to offer. I have an adorable 2-year-old daughter, Rubi Jean, who I’m sure you’ll see around. My hobbies include gardening, sewing, and DIY projects.
I look forward to meeting you all and will make myself available to you during specific office hours regularly. I look forward to a smooth Ingathering Service on September 9, and I am ready to support you all in our religious education efforts.
Peace and joy,
Cami Thomas
