When I was a little girl, I loved gathering around the campfire to tell stories. The warm crackling fire against the dark night sky helped my imagination roam as the elders’ voices filled the air.
The stories we tell narrative our lives. Stories frame our understanding of what matters, who matters, how we matter. They make meaning of fact, stringing together our lives’ events like pearls.
This month, we will explore the practice of Story in worship, religious education, and small groups. On January 19, the poet laureate of Milwaukee and Wisconsin, Dasha Kelly Hamilton, will join us for our annual Martin Luther King Jr. Sunday and tell us stories about cake!
Join us this January as we snuggle in and gather round the fire to tell stories, dream, and make meaning of our lives.
With love,
Jennifer
